Our desert climate in Arizona is unique and growing cycles of plants are definitely different than almost every other part of the country. Landscape maintenance is essential year round. A well maintained yard not only looks great, but it also improves your home & yard’s chance of surviving a brush fire. When cleaning your yard, make sure to remove all dead plants, grass & weeds. Clear any dead or dry leaves off your roof and out of your rain gutters. Trim trees on a regular basis. Cut back any branches that hang over your roof. For trees within 30 – 50 feet of your home or buildings, prune lower branches to a height of 8 feet from the ground and branches should reach no less than 8 feet from a roof or 10 feet from a chimney. Even though weeds are not growing now due to lack of rain, the seeds are just sitting there waiting for any bit of rain to come their way.
