What should you do if you suddenly have a water leak. First and foremost locate the main shut-off valve for the home water supply. Even if it is a small leak, turning off the water supply can save you from having costly repairs until you can figure out exactly where the leak is coming from. Similarly, know how to shut off water to sinks, toilets, washing machines and water-using appliances like the refrigerator’s ice maker. Once you have located the leak, you more than likely can turn the main water back on and just turn off the water to the source of the leak.
